Loudmouth Sponsors USA Men's Beach Volleyball Team for 2012 Olympic Games

Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser are all about making statements. The U.S. men's beach volleyball duo won gold at the '08 Beijing Olympics, have won 21 FIVB gold medals in their 28 gold medal match appearances together and enter the London Olympics as the highly favored top seed. So it's in keeping with that gusto the team will be outfitted in apparel that makes its own bold statements. When the two take to the sands in late July, they'll be sporting apparel from Loudmouth's new swimwear line.

Loudmouth, the brand made famous by golfer John Daly and that gained notoriety when the Norwegian curling team wore it at the '10 Vancouver Games, has launched a resort wear line to coincide with the four-year sponsorship of the men's beach volleyball team. After Rogers and Dalhausser check in at the Olympic Village, they will also don Loudmouth pants, shorts and accessories off the court.

Rogers said he was stunned the first time he saw the brand. "I had seen John Daly and some of the other golfers wearing the Loudmouth clothing, although I didn't recognize it as Loudmouth at the time," Rogers said. "I just saw it as being obviously very different from what people are used to seeing golfers wear."

Although Rogers and Dalhausser haven't started training for London, the line was on full display Dec. 19 when Loudmouth Founder Woody Woodworth and CEO Larry Jackson hosted a company versus competitor showdown. Woodworth and Jackson arrived decked out in Loudmouth suits, garnering their share of stares from those in the dunes. "It was kind of, I mean, who's wears a suit down to the beach kind of thing. So, I think it was more of the fact they were wearing suits," Rogers said. "The fact that they happen to be loud, be Loudmouth clothing, was more of a technical kind of thing."

Woodworth said it is a dream come true to be able to design the garb for the hopeful two-time gold medal winning team. "As a big sports fan, and a proud American, designing apparel for a U.S. Olympic team is a career highlight for me," he said. "Todd and Phil are top-line athletes who will be in the spotlight this summer, and these board shorts will make them look and play like the beach rock stars they are."

Rogers and Dalhausser will be wearing Loudmouth in all international and domestic competitions in the lead-up to the Games, starting with the season-opening event on the FIVB world tour. Rogers concedes that the apparel is only a slight variation from the colorful, vibrant patterns that adorn sand beaches now, but he is certain the designs will garner attention at the Games. "Most people get dressed in basically solids or dark colors. They're not wearing all kinds of colorful disco balls, stuff like that on the shore. So that will be when people notice them."
